Opinion
When I came to Mountain Home in 1978, I was just ing through. My plan was to work at The Bulletin for a couple of years then move on to another job in another town. As you can see, my plans changed. That’s because not long after I got here I met a girl who surprised me by being the girl of my dreams. And here we are marking our 45 th wedding anniversary.
You will , please, that in 1993 a fellow named James Lee Witt was appointed by a new president, Bill Clinton, to head FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the outfit that rides to the rescue, or is supposed to, when disasters occur. Tornados, floods, wildfires, earthquakes, hurricanes — FEMA’s portfolio.

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain, but the rain in Arkansas falls wherever it wants, and for as long as it wants. As I write this, apparently it wants to rain for a long, long time.
Alan Alda needs no introduction, so therefore we needlessly introduce him as the actor who came to global fame as Hawkeye, one of the Army surgeons in the long-running TV show "M*A*S*H," not to mention scads of other roles in memorable motion pictures. He has a cameo role in a new production, so we read, a cable mini-series entitled "The Four Seasons," essentially an update, or remake, of the delightful movie of the same name in which he co-starred 44 years ago.
